Don McCasland, LCSW-CCTP, has diverse work experience in the field of mental health and counseling, spanning over a decade. Don currently holds the position of Project Odyssey Manager at Wounded Warrior Project, where they manage and oversees the organization's therapeutic retreats for veterans.

Prior to this role, McCasland worked as a therapist at Warrior Elder Counseling Services, LLC, providing online individual and couples therapy for veterans, active duty personnel, and their family members in multiple states.

From 2015 till date, McCasland has been actively involved with Soldier's Heart, initially serving as a Program Leader and later as a member of the Board of Directors. In their role as a Program Leader, they focused on offering support to modern warriors and showcasing that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a normal and natural response to combat experiences.

In 2018, McCasland worked as a therapist at Wounded Warrior Project, where they played a vital role in assisting veterans in overcoming emotional and mental obstacles through therapeutic outdoor retreats. Don also delivered psychoeducational sessions on various topics related to mental health.

Between 2018 and 2021, McCasland worked as an LCSW-Therapist at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic, providing direct services to veterans and their families. Their responsibilities included conducting screenings, psychosocial assessments, and clinical intake assessments as required.

In addition to their clinical roles, McCasland has also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Austin Peay State University since 2016, leveraging their expertise to educate students in the field of counseling.

From 2015 to 2018, McCasland worked as a Social Worker at a Vet Center under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where they provided counseling and therapy to eligible veterans and their significant others, with a primary focus on addressing issues related to PTSD and readjustment after military service.

Additionally, McCasland served as a Board Member for APSU Wesley Foundation and held the position of Soldiers and Families Embraced School Counselor at New Providence Middle School, where they provided counseling services to middle school students connected to the military.

Don McCasland, LCSW-CCTP, obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Social Work from Austin Peay State University, where they studied from 2009 to 2012. Don continued their education at the same university and earned a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree with honor from 2012 to 2013. Additionally, Don McCasland attended Morristown High School from 1984 to 1987, where they obtained a general diploma. In terms of certifications, they hold various licenses and credentials, including Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Kentucky, Licensed Independent Social Worker - CP in the State of South Carolina, Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards. Don also has certifications as a Licensed Master of Social Work and Licenced Bachelor of Social Work from the State of TN Division of Health Related Boards. Furthermore, Don McCasland has completed additional training as a Screamfree Parenting Leaders Training from Hal Runkel, LMFT, Founder- Screamfree Institute Norcross, GA, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional from the International Association of Trauma Professionals. Recently, they obtained a Licensed Clinical Social Worker certification in the State of North Carolina in November 2020.
