Abhay Bhat

Abhay Bhat has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Abhay started their career as a Barista at Starbucks before transitioning to engineering roles. From 2012 to 2014, they served as the President of the SVCE- Student Chapter at IEEE, organizing various events and workshops for students. In 2014, they became the UTA- Student Chapter Graduate Chair at IEEE, responsible for coordinating activities and conducting events at the graduate section.

In 2016, Abhay joined Magna Powertrain as an Embedded Software and HIL Testing Intern, where they gained experience in software development and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing. Abhay then worked at Bosch USA as an Associate Embedded Software Engineer, specializing in Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Electronic Power Steering (EPS) development.

Abhay's next role was with A123 Systems as a System Engineer Battery Management System (BMS). Their responsibilities included designing and integrating BMS systems, developing charging algorithms and functional requirements, and collaborating with suppliers for battery heating, cooling, and charging. Abhay also had experience with requirements management and familiarity with SysML.

At American Battery Solutions Inc., Abhay worked as a Senior Embedded SW Engineer and later as a System Software Engineer for the Battery Management System (BMS). Their main tasks included developing and testing core software features for multiple production programs and implementing code for microcontroller-based embedded systems projects.

Currently, Abhay is working as a System Engineer for Platform Engineering at Woven by Toyota since 2023.

Abhay Bhat completed their Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering, BANGALORE between 2010 and 2014. Their high school education was obtained at KB DAV from 2005 to 2010.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Abhay also holds various certifications. In 2019, they obtained the IQ-RM Software 1-Day Expert DFMEA certification from APiS North America, as well as the IQ-RM Software 2-Day Basic DFMEA certification from the same institution. In 2018, they completed the CANalyzer Workshop - Introduction to CAN, CANalyzer and CAPL provided by VECTOR North America. In 2016, they underwent the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) Training at Udemy. Furthermore, in 2015, Abhay obtained several certifications, including Barista Certification from Starbucks, Foundations of Programming: Object-Oriented Design, JavaScript Essential Training, Python 3 Essential Training, and Up and Running with Arduino from lynda.com. In 2014, they also became AMCAT Certified in English Comprehension, Corporate Sales Manager, Creative Content Developer, and Data Processing Specialist from Aspiring Minds.
