Marie Mutsuki Mockett is a distinguished writer and author with notable works published through W. W. Norton & Company, Inc. and Graywolf Press. Mockett's work "Where the Dead Pause, and the Japanese Say Goodbye" received critical acclaim as a finalist for the PEN Open Book Award and was recognized as a New York Times Editors Choice, among other accolades. The novel "Picking Bones from Ash" also gained recognition, being a finalist for the Paterson Prize and the Saroyan Prize for International Writing. Mockett has held a project management position at Kaplan Test Prep and holds an MFA from Bennington College, along with education in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Columbia University and studies at Waseda University.
