Weishi Yan

Weishi Yan has a diverse work experience in the fields of software engineering, machine learning, and research. They currently work as a Software Engineer at X, the moonshot factory, starting in August 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Machine Learning Resident at the same company from August 2021 to July 2022.

Weishi Yan also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Florida from December 2020 to August 2022. In this position, they focused on developing an end-to-end deep neural network approximation of thermodynamics for polycrystalline materials system, achieving 99% accuracy and reducing computational cost significantly.

Before their postdoctoral role, Weishi Yan was a Phd Researcher Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington. They worked in these positions from October 2015 to December 2020 and from October 2015 to June 2019, respectively.

Additionally, Weishi Yan gained experience as a Data Science Fellow at the National Science Foundation (NSF) from August 2019 to July 2020. They worked on the application of physics-informed reinforcement learning and completed relevant coursework in machine learning, software development for data scientists, scientific computing, and high-performance scientific computing.

Weishi Yan's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at Colgate-Palmolive from September 2018 to May 2020.

Weishi Yan completed a Ph.D. and M.S. in Materials Science from the University of Washington between 2015 and 2020. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2015, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Materials Science from Stony Brook University. They also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Physics from Nanjing University, which was completed between 2011 and 2015.
