Gael Bernard

Gael BERNARD has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Gael began their career in 1996 as an International Marketing Coordinator at Ferrosan, where they worked until 1998. Gael then moved on to Alpharma, where they held various roles including Regional Sales Manager and Managing Director of Alpharma France. From 2000 to 2004, Gael served as the Global Director of Strategy & International Market Development at Alpharma.

In 2005, Gael joined Teva/Actavis Generics as the Managing Director for the Nordic & Central Europe Region. Gael later became the Vice President of Global New Product Launches and eventually the CEO of China operations.

Since 2008, Gael has been a part of Xellia Pharmaceuticals. Gael started as the Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing and held this position until 2018. Gael then became the President of the Xellia International Business Unit from 2018 to 2019. Subsequently, they served as the Vice President and Head of the Asia Pacific Region until 2022. Gael is currently the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Xellia Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to their work at Xellia, Gael is also a Board Member at Xellia (Taizhou) Pharmaceuticals, a joint venture between Xellia and Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical Company, since November 2021.

Gael Bernard attended Copenhagen Business School in 2022 to study Board work and Corporate Governance for Life Science Startups. In 2002-2003, they completed an Executive Program in General Management at London Business School. In 1993-1994, Gael studied Economics and International Development at UIBE Business School. From 1990 to 1994, they attended ISGP - ESA3 - Talis Business School Campus in Paris, France, focusing on Business Administration and Management. Lastly, Gael pursued a Bachelor program in International Marketing & Business Management at the University of Hull from 1992 to 1993.
