After a successful career in the electrical contracting business, in 1985, Bob started Xencom Systems to provide energy management and control systems to the industrial and commercial sectors. Working with Elemco NY, they were one of the first contractors in the country that could compete with the large controls companies such as; Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Trane, and others. With their focus at that time on retail, Xencom Energy Management maintains over 150 energy management systems in malls throughout the US.
In 1998, Cross partnered with Mike Ponds (Shopping Center Veteran) to start Xencom Facility Management (now Pondsco Facility Services) to address the needs of the shopping center industry to outsource facility maintenance and janitorial services. With their focus on retail, they helped maintain over 45,000,000 sq ft.
Again in 2008, needing someone with the knowledge of commodity markets and brokerage services, Cross partnered with his son Brian to help with the growing needs of their customers to understand the newly deregulated electric and natural gas markets, Xencom Green Energy was formed. They help their customers manage over $75,000,000 in utility purchases.
Now with the merger of Elemco Building Controls, (now Elemco Xencom NY) they are positioned to provide energy services and management to the commercial and industrial markets in the greater Metropolitan NY area along with Dallas/Fort Worth.
They also continue to provide energy services to the shopping center industry nationally along with all the deregulated states.
Bob’s experience in energy, HVAC and electrical systems has enabled him to serve on the sustainability and energy design teams of several large developers.
