Nicholas Pachon

Senior Research And Development Engineer at XII Medical

Nicholas Pachon has extensive work experience in the medical device industry. Nicholas is currently employed at XII Medical as a Senior Research and Development Engineer since September 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at Abbott for four years, starting as a Manufacturing Engineer I and later transitioning to the position of Test Process Engineer II in the Heart Failure Division. During their time at Abbott, they were responsible for supporting test fixtures, performing IQ/OQs, managing fixture configurations, and implementing design improvements. Nicholas also created custom Excel macros for data analysis and identified failures for correction.

Before joining Abbott, Nicholas worked at St. Jude Medical as an Advanced Process Development Engineer Co-Op, where they validated processes and tools on the manufacturing line for pacemakers, ICDs, and leads. Additionally, they designed and launched tools to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Earlier in their career, Nicholas gained research experience at Derek Sieburth's Neuroscience Lab, where they developed a data analysis program using Matlab to study the effects of acetylcholine on C. elegans worms. Nicholas also served as a Freshman Academy Coach at USC Viterbi School of Engineering, facilitating and teaching basic engineering principles, time management skills, and teamwork strategies to freshman students.

Furthermore, Nicholas worked as a Summer Intern at the California Institute of Technology.

Nicholas Pachon earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering (Electrical Emphasis) from the University of Southern California. Nicholas attended the university from 2011 to 2015. In addition, they obtained a certification as a Certified SolidWorks Associate from the SolidWorks Certification Center in December 2013.
