Sam Heydari has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Sam started their career as a Project Manager at IRMA Industries Co. in 2004, where they successfully managed various projects. Sam then moved on to become the Engineering Director at the same company from 2006 to 2007.
In 2008, Sam joined the University of Houston as a Graduate Research Assistant until 2011. During this time, they gained valuable research experience.
Following their academic stint, Sam joined Caterpillar Inc. in 2011 as a Sr. Control System Engineer, where they focused on control system engineering.
In 2012, Sam transitioned to Navistar Inc., where they held multiple roles. Sam started as a Control Systems Engineer, Sr. Team Lead and then moved on to become a Product Development Engineer, Sr. Team Lead. At Navistar, they managed various projects, coordinated engineers from different functional teams, and played a key role in implementing efficient model-based application development resulting in substantial cost savings.
In 2017, Sam joined Gentherm as a Senior Software Development Lead where they led a team responsible for designing a complete battery management system (BMS) for automotive grade Lithium-ion battery modules. Sam oversaw all activities related to BMS design, including system and software architecture, validation, and testing. Sam also interacted with potential customers and supported the sales team.
Most recently, in 2018, Sam became the VP of Software Engineering at Xos Trucks, where they focus on developing electric trucks and oversees all software-related aspects of the company.

Sam Heydari earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran, which they attended from 2000 to 2005. Sam then pursued a Master's degree in Electrical (Control) Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology from 2005 to 2008. Sam furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical (Control) Engineering from the University of Houston, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
