Jorge Escobedo

Jorge Escobedo has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Jorge currently holds the position of Head of Machine Learning at Yape since August 2023. Previously, they served as the VP Engineering and Data Science at Unravel Carbon (YC W22) from August 2022 to July 2023. Prior to that, Jorge was the VP Engineering and Data at Drop from August 2020 to July 2022, and the Head of Data and Machine Learning at Drop from February 2019 to August 2020. Jorge also co-founded Canopy Labs, a company that provides AI-driven customer analytics software, and worked as the CTO there from June 2012 to December 2018. Before that, they were a Ph.D. Student in Residence at Perimeter Institute from January 2009 to June 2012. Jorge also worked as a Teaching Assistant at Perimeter Scholars International in February 2010. Jorge started their career as a Marketing Assistant at the University of Amsterdam from September 2007 to December 2007.

Jorge Escobedo obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in 2006. Jorge then pursued a Master of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Amsterdam from 2006 to 2008. Subsequently, from 2009 to 2012, they pursued a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics at the University of Waterloo, while also being a Ph.D. student in residence at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. In 2012, they completed a program called Canopy Labs at Y Combinator.
