Gregory Machat has been working in the tech industry since 2021, beginning with their role as a Frontend Engineer II at Yello.co. In this role, they improved accessibility for users with various accessibility challenges, and enhanced existing code to create a more intuitive user experience. Prior to this, they served as a Combat Medic in the US Army from 2017 to 2021. During that time, they facilitated the treatment and care of those wounded on and off the battlefield, headed small medical teams, and mentored new soldiers. In 2021, they began attending Code Platoon, a non-profit coding bootcamp that helps veterans transition into the civilian workforce. There, they gained professional-level knowledge of industry standards, and created full stack web-based apps using Django, ReactJS, and Postgres. Before their tech career, Gregory worked as a Server at Alfonso's Gourmet Pizza and Pasta from 2011 to 2014. In this role, they adapted to fit any role required, such as Server, Delivery, and Pizza Cook, and trained new employees in each role. Gregory also worked at Rowan University from 2014 to 2017, coordinating the updating and maintenance of on-campus housing, tracking the needs of each student at an individual level, and facilitating the move-in operations for several thousand students.
Gregory Machat completed a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education/Fitness from Rowan University in 2016. In 2021, they began studying Web Development at Code Platoon. Gregory has also obtained several certifications, including an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2021, a Certified SAFe 5 Practitioner from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2021, and an Emergency Medical Technician from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in 2017.
