Phil Atkinson

Phil Atkinson is an experienced professional in operations and public safety management within the events sector. Currently serving as Head of Operations and Safety Officer at York Racecourse since January 2004, Phil is responsible for risk assessment and public safety for a variety of events, including horse racing and music events with attendances of up to 42,000. As Director of Atkinson Risk Management Ltd since October 2021, Phil leads a consulting firm catering to diverse clients. Previous roles include Safety Officer at Burghley Horse Trials, overseeing events with up to 70,000 attendees, and Senior Safety Officer for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.
