Peter has worked at some of the healthcare sector’s most effective organizations to build public understanding of health disparities, access, and new research. At YAI, he has applied this experience to disseminate core ideas about the critical need for comprehensive services that improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to joining YAI, Peter served as Chief Communications Officer at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, working alongside faculty, students, and senior leaders to raise the School’s profile and to highlight its unique contributions to public health. As a faculty member of the School’s department of Sociomedical Sciences, Peter leads media trainings and works to increase visibility for public health scholarship. Peter is the former Vice President of Communications and External Affairs at The New School and has previously worked at amfAR and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in English from CUNY. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the CPC Learning Network.
