Vitor Pedro

Vitor Pedro started their career as a Trainee at Optimus in 2011, where they gained experience in IS/IT. Vitor then worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Systems and Robotics - University of Coimbra from September 2012 to April 2013. Following that, they joined Perceive3D as a Software Engineer from April 2013 to April 2017. In this role, they developed real-time image processing applications for medical devices and implemented the SCRUM methodology within the company. Vitor also handled project planning, software documentation, and presented the software development process to new team members.

From August to October 2018, Vitor worked at Upwork as a Business Manager and Vision and Machine Learning Engineer, where they wrote proposals and developed AI software solutions. Vitor then joined Vision-Box as a Research Engineer from May 2017 to November 2019, focusing on computer vision and machine learning algorithms for biometric and anti-spoofing solutions in border control and identity management systems. Vitor also developed real-time image capturing software for passenger recognition, including face liveness detection.

Vitor worked as a Freelancer from November 2019 to February 2020, taking on the role of a Senior Computer Vision and AI Software Engineer. During this time, they mentored at codementor.io and worked on various computer vision and machine learning projects using C++ and Python.

Most recently, Vitor has been working at Youverse since February 2020. Vitor started as Lead Software Engineer, where they were responsible for planning and development of image processing and AI software solutions. Vitor automated deployment and managed containerized applications across different infrastructure types. Additionally, they deployed machine learning models as scalable REST APIs. In June 2021, they were promoted to VP of Engineering, and as of January 2023, they hold the position of CTO.

Vitor Pedro's education history begins with their secondary education at Escola Secundária de Avelar Brotero from 2003 to 2006, where they completed Ensino Secundário in the field of Ciências. Following that, they attended Universidade de Coimbra from 2006 to 2011, obtaining an MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Vitor Pedro has pursued several certifications. In 2013, they completed a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera. In 2014, they obtained a certification in Image and video processing, also from Coursera. Later, in 2018, they acquired the CodementorX Certified Developer certification from Codementor. In the same year, they completed the course, "An Entire MBA in 1 Course: Award Winning Business School Professor, Venture Capitalist and Author," offered by StackSkills. Most recently, in 2020, they obtained the Deep Learning: Advanced Computer Vision certification from Udemy.
