Ghassan Derniaka has a diverse work experience in the banking and financial sector. Ghassan currently serves as the Head of Credit, Wholesale Banking at Zand, where they formulate and implements the bank's wholesale banking credit strategy. Prior to this, they worked at Emirates Islamic as a Senior Credit Manager, overseeing credit proposals and conducting risk reviews for the bank's wholesale and investment portfolios. Ghassan also supervised and mentored staff, monitored problematic accounts, and contributed to the development of credit risk policies. Before joining Emirates Islamic, Ghassan worked as a Senior Credit Appraiser at MUFG and as an Associate Analyst at Moody's Investors Service. Additionally, they served as a Senior Credit Risk Officer at Al Khalij Commercial Bank and worked as a Relationship Manager/Credit Analyst at Société Générale de Banque au Liban SAL.
Ghassan Dernaika completed their education at various institutions. Ghassan obtained a Baccalaureate in Experimental Sciences from Collège des Frères. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, General at Saint Joseph University of Beirut from 2000 to 2003. Ghassan further continued their studies in finance and earned a Master's degree in Finance, General from the same university from 2003 to 2005.
Furthermore, Ghassan has acquired additional certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2020, they obtained a Certificate in Commercial Credit (CICC) from Moody's Analytics. Ghassan also holds a Certificate of Completion in Securities from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Additionally, Ghassan has pursued the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential from the CFA Institute.
