Takeo Kanade

Co-Founder at Zaxel Systems

Dr. Kanade is the U.A. Helen Whitaker University Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and is considered the world's leader in computer vision technologies. He invented the concept of Virtualized Reality on which Zaxel's business is based. He is a previous Director of the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Kanade is also a co-founder of Quantapoint (formerly K2T). He is a recent recipient of the NEC C&C Award for lifetime contributions to the development of multimedia through the fundamental and broad advancement of robotics and computer vision. The NEC C&C Award adds to Dr. Kanade's long list of professional honors, which includes election to the National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of ACM, Fellow of American Association of Artificial Intelligence; several awards including the Joseph Engelberger Award, Yokogawa Prize, JARA Award, Otto Franc Award, and Marr Prize Award.
