Jacob Matthews has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 2010 with the US Army. In this role, they served as a Battalion Operations Officer, Executive Officer Adviser, Executive Officer, and Platoon Leader. In 2015, they took on the role of Educational Assistant at Northwest High School, where they provided individual instruction to students and assisted with group activities and make-up work. In 2016, Jacob began working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Tennessee State University, where they assisted in research for the United States Air Force and mentored undergraduate students. At the same time, they were a Graduate Assistant at Vanderbilt University, where they worked on a thesis on improving modeling of friction stir welding and researched propulsion methods for using radioisotopes to power unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). In 2018, Jacob became Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Zeno Power Systems.
Jacob Matthews attended the United States Military Academy at West Point from 2006 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering. Jacob then passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in January 2011. In 2016, Jacob Matthews went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) in Engineering at Vanderbilt University, which they completed in 2018.
