Qinyi Yan, PhD

Director of Advanced Sensor Technology at Zense Life

Qinyi Yan, PhD has a diverse range of work experience in the field of sensor technology and biochemistry. Most recently, Qinyi served as the Director of Advanced Sensor Technology at Zense Life, where they led projects related to the development and manufacturing of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) products. This role involved coordinating with manufacturing teams to optimize formulation and testing methods, identifying key process parameters using Design of Experiments (DOE), and analyzing clinical data to improve product performance.

Prior to that, Qinyi worked as an Advanced Specialist in Sensor Development at Radiometer. In this role, they led projects focused on improving the formulation and manufacturing processes of various biosensors for acute care testing solutions. Qinyi was trained in using the Danaher Business System (DBS) to continuously improve internal yield and field quality. They also collaborated with Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with FDA, CE, and ISO standards.

Qinyi's earlier experience includes working as an R&D Scientist at Nipro Diagnostics, where they were involved in the development and improvement of blood glucose monitoring systems. They held a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and supervised lab technicians in their work.

During their time at the University of Michigan, Qinyi served as a Graduate Student Research Assistant and Graduate Student Instructor. As a research assistant, they invented a new tear glucose sensor and developed implantable glucose/lactate sensors with enhanced biocompatibility. Qinyi also evaluated the in vivo performance of these sensors. As a graduate student instructor, they taught chemistry laboratory classes, mentored undergraduate students in research projects, and provided tutoring in chemistry subjects.

Qinyi's earliest experience in the field comes from their time as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Nanjing University. They developed a novel detection method for amino acids in human urine using Electrogenerated Chemiluminescence (ECL) coupled with Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) separation.

Overall, Qinyi Yan, PhD has a strong background in sensor technology and biochemistry, with experience in research, development, manufacturing, and quality improvement.

Qinyi Yan, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of chemistry. From 2001 to 2005, they attended Nanjing University where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. In 2003, they also spent some time at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology studying Chemistry. Following that, Qinyi Yan pursued their PhD at the University of Michigan from 2005 to 2011, specializing in Chemistry. In addition to their academic achievements, they also obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training certification in March 2014 from the South Florida Manufacturers Association.
