Roel Orsel has a long and varied work experience. Roel began their career in 1990 as the Head of the Cereal Processing Unit at TNO, where they managed a group of 12 FTE of scientists, project leaders and technicians. Roel also held the role of R&D Manager and Research Scientist at TNO. In 1996, they moved to Quest International Flavour Fragrance Food Ingredients as the Product Development Director Food Ingredients, where they provided strategic and operational leadership to 8 product development teams in Asia, USA and EU. Roel then moved to Kerry BioScience in 2004 as the R&D Director, providing strategic and operational direction to a global R&D team of 80 people. From 2006 to 2018, Roel Orsel worked at CSM Bakery Solutions, first as the CTO & Vice President R&D and then as the Global Vice President R&D. In 2018, they moved to OCPIM as the Managing Director. Most recently, in 2019, they began working at Bain & Company as a Bain advisor. In 2021, they became the Chief Executive Officer of Zero Carb Company.

Roel Orsel studied Food Science at Wageningen University & Research from 1984 to 1990, earning an Msc degree. Roel also attended RSG Tromp Meesters from 1978 to 1984, where they completed a VWO.
