Bastian Pentenrieder

Bastian Pentenrieder has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Bastian most recently served as the Head of FX, precious metals, and money market operations at Zürcher Kantonalbank since November 2020. Prior to that, they worked at swissQuant Group AG as the Head of Derivatives Analytics from October 2019 to October 2020, where they led a team of quant engineers and handled sales planning, contracts with clients, and project management for strategic consulting projects.

From 2012 to 2019, Bastian held multiple roles at Amplitude Capital, starting as a System Developer from April 2012 to December 2014, then as the Deputy Head of Operations from January 2015 to September 2016, and finally as the Head of Operations from October 2016 to July 2019. In these positions, they built and led the Operations Team, monitored trading activities, and handled various responsibilities across front and back-office functions.

Prior to that, they worked as a Research Analyst at IMC financial markets & asset management from February 2010 to March 2012, focusing on statistical arbitrage. Additionally, Bastian gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant and PhD Student at ETH Zurich from October 2005 to December 2009, where they organized tutorial classes for mathematics courses.

Earlier in their career, Bastian also had internships at CTI Engineering in 2005 and Tesis in 2003, where they gained practical experience in engineering and implemented key features for simulation software used by major automotive manufacturers.

Bastian Pentenrieder received their education in a chronological order. Bastian completed their Doctor of Science degree in Mathematics (Numerical Analysis) from ETH Zürich between 2005 and 2009. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Technomathematik from the Technical University of Munich from 1999 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Bastian Pentenrieder has also obtained certifications in Financial Markets and The Power of Macroeconomics: Economic Principles in the Real World from Coursera in April 2014.
