Torben Gentz

Torben Gentz is the Founder and CEO of SubsSeaSpec UG, established in April 2015, focusing on environmental monitoring through underwater mass spectrometry. Since August 2007, Torben Gentz has served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and Marine Research, specializing in the characterization of trace gases above submarine gas release areas and optimizing an in situ mass spectrometer. Previously, Torben Gentz completed a PhD on the distribution and fate of methane released from submarine sources and worked as a Chemical Engineer, calibrating and optimizing mass spectrometers. Early career experience includes a role as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant at medac GmbH. Torben Gentz holds a Doctoral degree in Natural Science from the University of Bremen and an Engineer's Degree in chemical engineering from Lübeck University of Applied Sciences, along with training as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant from the University of Hamburg.
