Ian Verwayen

Ian’s role at AES is that of financial director, based at the head office in Pinelands, Cape Town, having done so since 2004 when he assisted with the management buyout of AES Oldco. Initially Ian begin at AES as the financial manager and later assumed an executive position following the restructuring of business.

Ian’s previous work experience included a stint of just short of eight years within the security services division of Bidserve, a Bidvest subsidiary. It was there that as financial manager with a role including acquisitions, due diligence audits amongst other interesting projects; that a vast amount of commercial experience was obtained that has stood him in good stead ever since. Prior to that, Ian obtained a BCompt degree through UNISA and completed articles at the audit firm of Nolands, formerly Kirkman-Noland following which Ian was self-employed in the accounting services and accounting software industry.

Ian’s family is the most important aspect of his life and he is a keen adventurer, listing cycling as one of his passions amongst most other outdoor activities.
