Manuel Pinto has a diverse work experience in the scientific research field. Manuel currently works as a Principal Scientist at Avacta since April 2023. Prior to this, they were employed by Adaptimmune, where they held various roles. From January 2022 to February 2023, they served as a Principal Scientist, responsible for TCR candidate selection and pipeline coordination. Manuel also provided mentorship and supervised a team of scientists. Before that, from January 2020 to December 2021, they worked as a Senior Scientist, focusing on TCR identification and affinity enhancement. Manuel also led the development of a mammalian-display antigen screening platform. Manuel's earlier experience includes a Postdoc position at IBMC.INEB Associate Laboratory from January 2009 to July 2015, where they studied protein modification by ubiquitin and SUMO. Manuel also took on the role of Principal Investigator, managing a research project and supervising a Master researcher. Prior to their postdoc, Manuel worked as a PhD Student at IBMC.INEB Associate Laboratory, studying peroxisome biogenesis from November 2004 to December 2008. Manuel also spent a brief period as a Visiting PhD Student at K.U.Leuven in 2005.
Manuel Pinto started their education at the Universidade do Porto from 2000 to 2004, where they completed their Degree in Biochemistry. Manuel then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences from ICBAS- Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, graduating in 2008.
