Karissa Krause has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Karissa started their career in 2016 as a Communications & Data Analyst at Regent University. Karissa then worked as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton from April 2017 to October 2017. Karissa later joined TopBox Solutions as a Security Specialist in October 2017 for a brief period of two months.
In 2018, Karissa joined CDO Technologies, Inc. as part of the SOC Team from September 2018 to March 2019. Karissa also worked as an Information Security Specialist on a two-month contract at SandTech Solutions, LLC from May 2018 to June 2018. Karissa's next role was at Woz U - Education. Reprogrammed., where they served as a Cyber Instructor & Program Chair from September 2019 to September 2020.
From 2020 to 2022, they worked at Kforce Global Solutions, Inc. as the CIRT Lead, Cyber Engineer. In 2018, Karissa joined Acclaro Research Solutions, Inc. as a Cybersecurity SME, Course Critique and stayed with the company until November 2022.
Most recently, Karissa served as the Cyber Incident Response Team Manager (CSIRT) at Ally Bank from April 2022 to November 2022. Karissa then transitioned to their current role as the Cyber Operations Manager at Avalon starting in May 2023. Through their various positions, Karissa has gained expertise in cybersecurity, incident response, and SOC operations.
Karissa Krause obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Systems, Security from Regent University, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, they have received several certifications related to cybersecurity. In May 2017, Karissa became an ICAgile Certified Professional from the International Council for Agile. Karissa obtained their Security + certification from CompTIA in May 2017 as well. In December 2017, they became a Certified Ethical Hacker through EC-Council. Later, in June 2018, Karissa obtained the CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) certification. In November 2021, they earned the CSAE - CompTIA Security Analytics Expert certification. Finally, Karissa obtained the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) certification in May 2021, and is expected to receive the Certified Incident Handler (ECIH) certification from EC-Council in February 2023.
