Francisco Covas has extensive work experience in the banking and financial sector. Francisco began their career as an Economist at Banco de Portugal in 1998 and worked there until 1999. Francisco then joined the Bank of Canada as a Senior Analyst from 2004 to 2007. After that, they worked at the Federal Reserve Board as an Assistant Director for nearly a decade, from 2007 to 2016. During their time there, they gained valuable experience in research and analysis. In 2016, Covas joined The Clearing House as the SVP, Deputy Head of Research for the Clearing House Association. Francisco held this role for two years before transitioning to the Bank Policy Institute, where they served as the Head of Research. Covas is an accomplished professional with a strong background in research and analysis in the banking industry.
Francisco Covas pursued their education in a chronological order. Francisco began by attending Colegio Militar, where they completed their high school degree between 1985 and 1992. Following this, they enrolled at Universidade Nova de Lisboa from 1992 to 1997, earning a Licenciatura in Economics. Later, from 1999 to 2004, Francisco attended UC San Diego and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics.
