J.S. Deepak has a diverse and extensive work experience. J.S. started their career in 2008 as a Joint Secretary in the Department of Telecommunications for the Government of India. J.S. continued to work in various roles within the department, eventually becoming the Secretary Telecom from 2016 to 2017. In 2010, they also served in the Department of Industries & Commerce as a Joint Secretary and later as an Additional Secretary Commerce. From 2017 to 2020, Deepak was the Ambassador of India to the World Trade Organization. Following that, they worked as a Senior Advisor for STL - Sterlite Technologies Limited. J.S. then served as a Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation from 2021 to 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Group Director- International Strategy & Public Policy at Bharti Enterprises starting from 2022.
J.S. Deepak pursued their Master's degree in Electronics from Bangalore University, where they studied from 1978 to 1980. Following this, they further expanded their educational qualifications by completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Finance and Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Their MBA program spanned from 1980 to 1982.
