Mark Palmer

Director, Accelerator Science & Technology Initiative at Brookhaven National Laboratory

Mark Palmer is an accomplished physicist with extensive experience in accelerator science and technology. Currently serving as the Chair of the Accelerator Science & Technology Department and the Director of the Accelerator Facilities Division at Brookhaven National Laboratory since March 2016, Mark oversees advanced particle accelerator and laser technologies while facilitating a range of research and development. Prior to this role, Mark held leadership positions at Fermilab from January 2012 to March 2016, directing the Accelerator Test Facility and the US Muon Accelerator Program. Mark's career also includes a tenure at Cornell University from 2000 to 2012 as a Senior Research Associate. Mark earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Physics from Princeton University, completing the doctorate in 1993 and the undergraduate degree in 1986.
