Joshua Brown, CHST, GSP

Joshua Brown has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental health and safety (EHS). Joshua currently holds the position of Vice President of EHS at Brown & Settle Inc. since May 2023. Prior to this, they were the Owner of Paradigm Safety Services LLC starting from February 2023.

From February 2021 to March 2023, Joshua worked as the HSE Director at Allan Myers Inc. Before that, they held the roles of Senior HSE Manager (October 2019 to February 2021) and Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (October 2015 to October 2019) at the same company. In their earlier years at Allan Myers Inc. (from January 2014 to October 2015), Joshua served as a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist, where they provided knowledge on OSHA and DOT regulations, conducted training sessions, and mentored construction crews and project team members.

Joshua started their career as an HSE intern at American Infrastructure in May 2013, where they gained initial experience in the field.

Joshua Brown completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Safety Management from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2013. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in December 2017. Joshua also completed the Excavation Safety Competent Person Training from United Rentals Inc. in March 2014. In February 2016, they received the Rigger 1 & Signal Person Certified certification from Crane Safety Consultants and Inspections. Joshua Brown also obtained the Aerial Work Platform Trainer certification from Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. in May 2014. In January 2014, they completed the VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control Training and Flagger Certification from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Furthermore, they obtained the Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician certification from the International Code Council in April 2019. Most recently, in October 2020, Joshua Brown obtained the OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards For The Construction Industry certification from the Chesapeake Region Safety Council. Joshua is also recognized as a Graduate Safety Practitioner by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, although the specific date of obtaining this certification is not provided. Additionally, they have certifications pending, including Liberty Mutual Decision Driving Instructor from Liberty Mutual Accident & Health, Medic First Aid/CPR & AED Instructor from the Health & Safety Institute (HSI), OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry from the Chesapeake Region Safety Council, and OSHA 30 Hour from the Occupational Safety & Health Council.
