Mark Dempsey has extensive work experience in the hospitality industry. Mark is currently the Head of Hospitality & Culture at Burnley Leisure & Culture since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Hospitality General Manager at Burnley Leisure Trust from May 2018 to May 2021. In this role, they managed the hospitality and catering services for various venues, including the Mechanics Theatre and the Boathouse Cafe. Additionally, they were responsible for opening new operations, such as the Ginstitute and a new food concept in partnership with Simply Classic.
Before their role at Burnley Leisure Trust, Mark Dempsey worked as the General Manager at Oswalds at Sowerby from May 2007 to May 2010. Mark'sresponsibilities included developing and improving the revenue of the accommodation business and enhancing the fine dining restaurant business. Mark also created a luxury weekend break business alongside the existing tourism business.
Mark Dempsey's previous experience includes being a Sales Manager at Holiday Inn Express Burnley from April 2006 to May 2007, where they were involved in the pre-build sales and customer relationship management for a new hotel development. Mark also served as a Sales Manager at Thistle Liverpool from June 2001 to June 2003, where they focused on securing new local sales and helping to develop future potential within the city.
Mark'searlier roles include being a Catering Sales Manager at an undisclosed company from May 1998 to June 2001 and working as a Commis Chef & Events Assistant at Burnley Football Club from May 1996 to May 1998.
Furthermore, Mark Dempsey has served as a Trustee Board Member at Young Lancashire from June 2004 to October 2007. Additionally, they were named the winner of the Burnley 2013 Channel 4 program "Come Dine With Me".
Mark Dempsey attended St Theodores RC High School from 1991 to 1996. During their time at the high school, they achieved 10 GCSEs, including 5xC and 5xB grades. Following their high school education, from 1998 to 2001, Dempsey attended The University of Huddersfield. Mark pursued a degree in International Hospitality Management and successfully obtained a BAhons qualification.
