Principal Scientist Metallurgy at Charm Industrial

Brian Jamieson has a diverse and extensive work experience. Brian currently holds the position of Principal Scientist Metallurgy at Charm Industrial since March 2023. In this role, they are actively involved in converting waste biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and utilizing it for carbon removal or syngas production for fossil-free steel.

Before joining Charm Industrial, Brian worked at ArcelorMittal as a Senior Researcher from January 2023 to March 2023, focusing on Blast Furnaces, Direct Reduction, Primary Processes, Hydrogen, Decarbonization, and Net-Zero initiatives. Prior to that, they served as a Researcher from May 2019 to January 2023, contributing to the transformation of ArcelorMittal and the steel industry.

Additionally, Brian has teaching experience as a Sessional Instructor at McMaster University from February 2019 to April 2022.

Brian Jamieson has a strong educational background in materials engineering and materials science & engineering. From 2010 to 2015, they attended McMaster University, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering & Management (BEng & Mgmt) degree with a specialization in Materials Science & Engineering. Following their undergraduate studies, Brian pursued further education at McMaster University from 2015 to 2019. During this time, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Engineering.
