Dr. Darcy Lowell is a developmental & behavioral pediatrician and founder and CEO of Child First. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Lowell’s work with very vulnerable young children and families focuses on the power of early, responsive relationships to prevent the damaging effects of trauma and early adversity. Dr. Lowell has been directly involved with program innovation, clinical research, child advocacy, and system change at the local, state, and national levels.
In 200l, Dr. Lowell began Child First, a two-generation, evidence-based, home visiting intervention with the goal of healing and protecting very young children (0-5 years) and families from the impact of trauma and adversity. Specifically, Child First works to prevent serious emotional disturbance, developmental and learning problems, and abuse and neglect, through a combination of psychotherapeutic intervention, intensive care coordination, and enhancing executive functioning.
Dr. Lowell obtained her BA and completed medical fellowships at Yale University. She is a Fellow of Zero to Three, CT Association for Infant Mental Health, Child Health & Development Institute of CT, Harvard Center on the Developing Child’s Frontiers of Innovation, National Home Visiting Model Alliance, and HRSA’s Home Visiting Research and Development National Advisory Council.
