Jonathan Salas

Jonathan Salas has extensive work experience in various roles related to community services and criminal justice. Jonathan is currently working as the Director of Community Services at the City of Deerfield Beach, where they are responsible for overseeing administrative functions and collaborating with executive staff and department directors to improve city operations. Previous to this role, they served as the Assistant Director of Community Services at the same organization.

Additionally, Jonathan has experience as the Owner of Notary Now, where they provided notary services to clients. Jonathan also worked at The Village of Wellington as a Community Services Project Manager and Senior Neighborhood Advocate.

Prior to these roles, Jonathan worked as a Criminal Justice Instructor at Corinthian Colleges, Inc. and as a Site Coordinator at Opa-Locka Weed & Seed. Jonathan also has experience in academia as an Adjunct Criminal Justice Professor and Graduate Assistant at Florida A&M University.

Jonathan's early work experience includes serving as a Youth Counselor at Boys & Girls Clubs of America and as an intern at the Tallahassee Police Department. Overall, their work experience demonstrates a strong background in community services, criminal justice, and leadership roles.

Jonathan Salas completed their education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Jonathan obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology from 2002 to 2007. Jonathan then pursued a Master of Applied Social Sciences degree in Criminal Justice from 2007 to 2008.

In terms of certifications, Jonathan has obtained several. In 2019, they became a Florida Notary, authorized to perform notarial acts in the state. In 2018, they acquired certifications as a CDBG Housing Practitioner and HOME Housing Practitioner from the National Community Development Association (NCDA). Jonathan also became a SHIP Housing Practitioner certified by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. Furthermore, in 2015, they obtained a certification as a CPTED- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner, although the institution is not specified. Additional certifications include Gang Prevention: Working with Parents, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incident, Intro to Incident Command Systems, and National Incident Management Systems (NIMS), all earned through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
