Christy Wood has extensive experience in social planning and community engagement, currently serving as the Manager of Social Planning for the City of Nanaimo since June 2020. Prior roles include Executive Director at the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association from June 2018 to June 2020, and Social Planner at Social Planning Cowichan from January 2016 to July 2018. Christy also held positions as Project Director at Safer Futures and Course Facilitator at Hiiye’yu Lelum - House of Friendship - Society, focusing on supporting families in need. Early career experience includes roles such as Support Worker Supervisor at MSJ Society and Team Supervisor at Community Living Society. Christy holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from the University of Toronto, a post baccalaureate in Social Policy from Simon Fraser University, and a diploma in Criminology from Douglas College.
