Eric Desmarais

Eric Desmarais has a diverse and extensive work experience in the renewable energy industry. Eric is currently serving as the Director of Development at Clēnera, starting in April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Development Project Manager at the same company from May 2021 to April 2023.

Before joining Clēnera, Eric worked at EDP Renewables as a Development Project Manager from April 2020 to May 2021. Prior to this role, they served as a Project Developer from September 2017 to April 2020.

Eric also gained experience at Enerparc Inc., where they held the position of Project Developer from March 2017 to September 2017. Eric also worked as a Project Development Analyst from October 2015 to March 2017, where they were responsible for market analysis, site identification, and acquisition.

Furthermore, Eric has experience working for the Oregon Department of Energy as an Energy Facility Siting Analyst from February 2013 to October 2015. In this role, they managed energy facilities through a comprehensive siting application process, involving statutory analysis and balancing the needs of various stakeholders.

Early in their career, Eric worked as a Legal Intern at PacifiCorp from May 2010 to August 2011. In this position, they assisted multiple attorneys, primarily focusing on energy law and contract law, and was responsible for drafting and editing legal documents. Eric also worked extensively with FERC standards, NERC standards, and CIPS.

Eric Desmarais began their education journey in 2006 at the University of Arizona, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Eric dedicated himself to their studies and successfully completed the program in 2009. Following their undergraduate degree, Eric was driven to further their education and enrolled at the University of Oregon School of Law in 2009, where they committed himself to studying law. Eric embarked on a rigorous program and managed to complete their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in 2012. This tenure at the University of Oregon School of Law equipped Eric with a solid foundation in legal studies.
