Alexandre Laurain

Alexandre Laurain has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Alexandre is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Coherent Inc. starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at II-VI Incorporated as a Lead Engineer from 2019 with a promotion to Staff Engineer in 2020. Alexandre also worked as a Staff Engineer at Finisar Corporation from June 2019 to September 2019. Before their industry experience, Alexandre worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona from January 2011 to June 2019, focusing on high power semiconductor lasers and non-linear optics. Alexandre also completed a PhD at IES - Institut d'Electronique et des Systèmes from 2007 to 2010, where they specialized in the design, realization, and study of high power and highly coherent laser sources. Alexandre's early career includes an internship at Siemens VDO automotive where they contributed to the development of a pressure sensor integrated into a spark plug for combustion engines.

Alexandre Laurain obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Montpellier in 2005. Alexandre then pursued a Master's degree in the same field at the same institution, completing it in 2007. Alexandre's education journey continued at the University of Montpellier where they successfully obtained a PhD in Physics in 2010.
