Michelle Engelhardt has a diverse range of work experience. Michelle began their career as a Member Recruitment Specialist at the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada in May 2013. In November 2013, they transitioned to a Project Coordinator role at the External Relations, International Energy Policy in the Department of Energy, Government of Alberta. After two years, Michelle moved to the Project Management Office and Project Delivery team within the same department, working as a Project Analyst from October 2015 to September 2016. In May 2017, Michelle joined Communitech as a Program Manager for Founder Services. Their most recent position is as a UX Designer at Focus21 Inc., starting in February 2023.
Michelle Engelhardt pursued their education in a chronological manner. Michelle started with the University of Guelph from 2007 to 2012, earning an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. In 2016 and 2017, they attended NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) and completed a NAIT Project Management Certificate, specializing in Project Management. During the same period, they also acquired a Certificate in Project Management from McMaster University.
In 2019, they furthered their education in UX Design at Communitech Academy, where they completed an Introduction to User Experience Bootcamp and a User Story Mapping program. Additionally, in 2020, they completed a Visual Design course at the UX Design Institute.
Michelle expanded their skill set in web accessibility by enrolling in the "Introduction to Web Accessibility - W3Cx" program offered by edX, starting in 2023. Furthermore, in 2020, they completed a course on Indigenous Canada at the University of Alberta.
Michelle obtained several certifications, including "Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma," "Design a User Experience for Social Good," "Google UX Design Specialization," and "Responsive Web Design in Adobe XD" from Google in September 2022. Prior to this, they acquired certifications such as "SheCodes Basics, HTML, CSS, ES6, VS Code" from SheCodes in December 2021. Michelle also obtained certifications from Google covering various aspects of user experience design, including UX research, wireframing, low-fidelity prototypes, empathizing, defining, ideation, and foundational UX design concepts between 2021 and 2022. Additionally, they attained a certification in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from The Interaction Design Foundation in May 2019, along with a Certificate of Membership from the same institution in February 2019.
