Katherine Newman

Katherine Newman is a Geothermal Reservoir Engineer at Contact Energy Ltd, leading the Tauhara geothermal development since January 2020. As Chair of the New Zealand chapter of Women in Geothermal since January 2022, Katherine has been active on the Board since 2020. Previous roles include Marketing Manager at The Northern Club, Regional Sales Consultant at EF Education First, and a Geophysicist with Schlumberger, where responsibilities encompassed both geo-solutions and fieldwork on seismic research. Katherine also has experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant during academic pursuits, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Geothermal Energy Technology from The University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from The University of Texas at Austin.
