Robert Speight

Robert Speight is an experienced professional in the field of biotechnology, currently serving as the Director of the CSIRO Advanced Engineering Biology Future Science Platform since October 2022. Robert has held various academic positions at Queensland University of Technology since April 2014, including Professor and Acting Head of School in Microbial Biotechnology, and has focused on enzyme engineering and microbial protein production systems. Previously, Robert managed the Systems and Synthetic Biology Group at the University of Queensland, overseeing operational and commercial aspects, and has held director roles at Hillfield Bio and Ingenza Ltd, where Robert contributed to the commercialisation of biotechnological innovations. Robert's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Imperial College London.
