Ashli Akins is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in community engagement, research, and social justice initiatives. Currently serving as the Community Manager for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development at UNESCO since November 2021, Ashli has also held the role of Indigenous Housing Governance Researcher at Ecotrust Canada. As an Independent Business Owner from 2010 to 2022, Ashli specialized in photography, writing, editing, and research, focusing on social and environmental justice. Additionally, Ashli was the President of Mosqoy, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting indigenous cultures in the Peruvian Andes. With a solid educational foundation, including a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia and an MSt in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, Ashli combines academic expertise with practical experience in various research and leadership roles.
