David Carter

Director Of Chemistry at CuraSen Therapeutics

David Carter has a long and successful career in chemistry. David began their career in 1991 as a Chemist III at Syntex, where they were responsible for synthesis of compounds for biological evaluation on multiple projects. During their time there, they also participated in the development of new proprietary synthetic methodology and completed a sabbatical in the Institute of Pharmacology. From 2000 to 2011, David held various positions at Roche Pharmaceuticals and Roche Palo Alto, including Research Scientist II/Medicinal Chemist and Research Scientist I/Medicinal Chemist. In 2011, they were a Patent Agent (contract) at Bozicevic, Field & Francis LLP, where they were responsible for chemical arts patent applications. From 2012 to 2015, David was a Senior Project Manager, Principal Scientist, Process Chemist and Project Manager at PCAS-NANOSYN LLC. During this time, they managed project resources, timelines and FTE allocation, and drafted, wrote, edited and technical reviewed cGMP batch records. From 2015 to 2017, David was a Principal at DS Carter Consulting, LLC and a Consultant at the University of Georgia and Anacor Pharmaceuticals. In 2017, they began working at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as a Consultant, and in 2019 they became the Director of Chemistry and Senior Principal Scientist at CuraSen Therapeutics, Inc.

David Carter obtained their BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Riverside between 1987 and 1991. David then went on to obtain their PhD in Organic Chemistry from UC Irvine between 1995 and 2000. In 2011, they obtained a Registered Patent Agent certification from the USPTO.
