Mike Flynn has extensive work experience in the security and nuclear energy sectors. Mike started their career in 1978 with the United States Air Force, where they served as a Lt Colonel until 2004. From 2004 to 2017, they worked with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) as an Operations Manager. In 2017, they joined the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as the Head of Security for the National Nuclear Security Administration Livermore Field Office. Additionally, they held the role of Head of Security for the DOE until 2023. In the same year, they transitioned back to the NNSA as an Assistant Manager for a brief period in 2023.
Mike Flynn attended the United States Air Force Academy from 1978 to 1982, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1987 to 1989, they studied at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a Master of Aviation Management degree with a focus on Aviation Management.
