Kamran Rizzolo

Kamran enjoys a global view. He grew up in Venezuela, where he got his BS in Biology at Central University of Venezuela. He then moved to the US to work as a Research Associate at the Viral Genomic Sequencing Platform of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Fascinated by systems-wide research, he went to Canada to study at the University of Toronto. He first pursued his MSc in Cell and Systems Biology. He then earned his PhD in Biochemistry in the lab of Dr. Walid Houry, where he built the most comprehensive chaperone protein network of yeast, as well as uncovered a novel interaction between two important chaperone-protease proteins of bacteria. Kamran’s postdoctoral research was done in the lab of Dr. Cordula Enenkel, deciphering the role of the enigmatic proteasome storage granules that form when proteasomes localize to the cytoplasm within non-dividing cells. At Dewpoint he is diving deep into condensate biology to reveal their interactomes and find ways to treat associated human diseases.
