Michael Spilman

Michael Spilman is an experienced Applications Specialist at Direct Electron since November 2013, previously serving as a Postdoctoral Associate at Florida State University from November 2011 to November 2013. In the postdoctoral role, focus was on structural analysis and characterization of an archaeal RNA silencing complex within the CRISPR-Cas immune system, utilizing high-throughput cryo-electron microscopy and automated image processing. Michael Spilman earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham between 2006 and 2011, and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rhodes College, completed in 2006.
