Karla Zapata is an Industrial and Systems Engineer from the Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima (Peru) and holds an MBA in Business Management from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
She joined the Enel Group in 1996 in her native country, Peru, as head of Control and Works Management of energy losses.
Between 1998 and 2003 she was head of the Promotion and Development division at Codensa (currently Enel Colombia), later leading the South Region and Cundinamarca Commercial Sub-Management.
She worked as Collection Manager for Enel Brasil – AMPLA, from 2003 to 2006, the same year when she moved to Enel Chile to assume the role of Regional Projects Manager and lead the Customer Service and Commercial Development sub-managements.
In 2020 she was distinguished with the Women Entrepreneurs award, since September 2021 she is director of the Fundación País Digital; and in March 2022 she became director and vice president of Se Santiago Chile Smart City.
In April 2018, she assumed as general manager of Enel X Chile, and since May 2022 she is also the manager of Market Distribution Chile, in charge of the energy trading business, commercial operations, and customer service of Enel Distribución.
