George Burke has over 10 years of work experience in the field of environmental science, with a focus on biology and diving. George is currently working as a Senior Biologist at Environmental Science Associates. Prior to this, George served as a Senior Environmental Scientist and Dive Safety Officer/Lead Diver at Stantec, where they provided support for various environmental impact review and project coordination tasks. Before joining Stantec, George worked as a Scientific Diver at Dial Cordy and Associates Inc., where they monitored and documented environmental conditions for a beach re-nourishment project. George also gained experience as an Environmental Stewardship Intern at Royal Caribbean International and as a Sales Associate at Austin's Dive Center. George's early career included an internship as an Internal Audit Intern at Royal Caribbean International.
George Burke completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Entrepreneurship at Wake Forest University from 2005-2009. In 2010-2011, they pursued a Master of Professional Science degree in Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management from the Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Before attending college, George attended Ransom Everglades but did not obtain a degree.
In terms of additional certifications, George obtained the certification of Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in May 2013. Furthermore, in April 2011, they received certifications as an AAUS Scientific Diver from the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS), as an Advanced SCUBA Diver from NAUI Diving LLC., and as an EANX Diver, also from NAUI Diving LLC.
