Luz Varela

Luz Varela is an experienced drilling analyst currently employed at Sekal AS since August 2022, following a role as an operations engineer at National Oilwell Varco from August 2018 to August 2022, where familiarity with downhole tools and telemetry systems was developed. Prior to this, Luz held various positions including directional drilling superintendent at PDVSA Services Inc., where project development aimed at achieving technological independence was directed, and drilling engineer at PDVSA Services, focusing on cost-effective management of drilling operations. Early experience as an MWD/LWD engineer at Schlumberger involved delivering real-time data for geosteering, and foundational work as a petroleum engineering intern at Corporación Venezolana de Petróleo included optimizing production engineering processes. Education includes a Master’s degree in Drilling and Well Engineering from Robert Gordon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Universidad Central de Venezuela.
