Thomas Colonna

Thomas Colonna is a seasoned expert in forest governance and private sector engagement, currently serving as a Forest Governance and Private Sector Expert and MSME Support Manager at the European Forest Institute since March 2017. In this role, Thomas manages programs supporting micro and small enterprises in the Mekong region's forest sector. Prior to this, Thomas was a Senior FLEGT Policy Advisor for China and Regional Asia, focusing on the strategic implementation of activities to combat illegal logging. Thomas's experience includes key positions at the Forest Stewardship Council, where responsibilities ranged from managing the Dispute Resolution Program to overseeing communications initiatives. Earlier roles included a post-graduate internship at ICLEI and a junior consultancy position at media consulta, along with significant experience in corporate branding and communications at Huawei Technologies. Thomas holds a Master of Science in International Public Policy from UCL and a Master of Arts in English, French, and Spanish from The University of Freiburg.
