Paulo J. V. Garcia

Paulo J. V. Garcia currently serves as the Director of the Department of Engineering Physics and Associate Professor at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, where responsibilities also include deputy director and coordinator of the Learning and Teaching Laboratory (LEA) and director of the Doctoral Programme in Engineering Physics. Since March 2014, Paulo J. V. Garcia has been the Portuguese Scientific Delegate to the European Southern Observatory Council. Previous experience includes a visiting professor role at IPAG, Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble from 2008 to 2010 and an assistant professor position at Universidade do Porto from 2001 to 2008. Paulo J. V. Garcia holds a PhD in Physics from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, as well as a Master of Science in Astronomy and a Bachelor of Science in Physics/Applied Maths, both from Universidade do Porto.
