Simon Varzandeh

Simon Varzandeh has worked in various protein science and biology roles throughout their career. Simon is currently working as the Director of Protein Science & Biology at Exscientia since January 2023. Prior to this, they held the role of Associate Director of Protein Science at Exscientia from January 2022 to January 2023. Simon also served as a Senior Protein Scientist at Exscientia from October 2020 to January 2022, and as a Protein Scientist from December 2018 to October 2020. Before joining Exscientia, Simon worked as a Protein Scientist at Kinetic Discovery Ltd from June 2018 to December 2018. Simon started their career as a Postdoctoral Research Technician at the University of Edinburgh from September 2016 to May 2018, and prior to that, they were a PhD student at the same university from September 2012 to September 2016.

Simon Varzandeh obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biological Sciences from Aberystwyth University in 2011. Simon then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire from 2011 to 2012. Later, Simon earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Structural and Molecular Biology from The University of Edinburgh, completing their doctoral studies in 2016.
