Brett Sweeney

Brett Sweeney, MCM, APR has a diverse work experience in communication roles. Brett is currently the Director of Communications and Community Engagement at Family and Children's Services Niagara since March 2021. Before that, they worked as the Manager of Communications at Niagara Health from November 2019 to March 2021.

Prior to their role at Niagara Health, Brett worked at the District School Board of Niagara for over a decade, starting in January 2008 as a Communications Officer. In this role, they provided strategic communication counsel, monitored trends and issues, and handled media relations. From September 2017 to July 2018, they acted as the Chief Communications Officer at the District School Board of Niagara, leading the Communications, Public Relations, and Printing Department and managing a team of six. Brett also served as the Acting Chief Communications Officer from August 2012 to March 2013.

Brett's earlier experience includes working as a Reporter and Newscaster at Astral Media, where they informed the local community about important events, provided on-site coverage of breaking news stories, and produced informative news features from an easy-to-understand perspective.

Brett Sweeney, MCM, APR has a Master of Communication Management degree from McMaster University, which was obtained between 2020 and 2023. Additionally, they hold a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Niagara College, completed in 2003, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Communications from Coker University, obtained from 1997 to 2000. Brett is also accredited in Public Relations by the Universal Accreditation Board, with the certification obtained in 2015.
