Theodore Sutherland has a diverse work experience spanning from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2015, they worked at African Leadership Academy as the Inaugural Associate Director, Manager of West & Central Africa (Africa Careers Network), and External Relations Fellow. From 2015 to 2020, they were the Head of College and Director of Undergrad Career Development Departments at African Leadership University, where they were responsible for the business and student experience. During this time, they were also privileged to be possibly the world's youngest head of a university. In 2020, they became the Head of Execution/PMO and Head of Corporate Product at The Room, a talent agency that connects the world's doers to hidden opportunities. From 2022 to present, they have been a Founder Finder at Factor[e] Ventures, where they are an advisor to the Managing Partner of a new Venture Studio. Theodore has also designed and led the inaugural Co Founder recruiting and compensation for the venture studio, of which three candidates were confirmed with $1M to back each venture they built. Additionally, they have taken a Self Designed Learning Sabbatical, during which they picked two to three learning goals to explore each quarter, created opportunities to learn through practice, and iterated their next quarterly goals based on those insights. Finally, they were a VC Fellow at Owl Ventures from 2022 to present, where they advised on Africa deal review and adapted investment thesis for Africa and lifelong learning.
Theodore Sutherland attended Bates College from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, French, and a Concentration in Globalisation. Theodore then attended Middlebury College in 2011, studying Portuguese. In 2022, Theodore Sutherland will begin attending Harvard Business School to pursue a Master of Business Administration.
